It is recommended that you buy your ticket before boarding. There are two types of tickets: Off Peak and Peak. Peak trains refer to business rush hours, on any weekday train that arrives in New York City terminals, (i.e. Grand Central Terminal), between 6 a.m to 10 a.m., and for any weekday trains that depart from NYC between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Peak hour trains are more expensive than Off Peak, trains that run other times on weekdays.
